Johnstone Dementia-Friendly Community Group

Johnstone Dementia-Friendly Community Group was launched in January 2019. The aim is to provide socialisation, companionship and support for those living with Dementia and their carers. We encourage our members to share their experiences and knowledge of the condition with one another. All too often the diagnosis of Dementia brings stigma, embarrassment and isolation to not only the individual with the diagnosis, but their carers as well. We are working to eradicate this.

What we offer

Couple Dancing
Coffee and a Cookie

On 20th of July we are launching our new social group, Still Here, in the Scout Hall at the foot of Canal Road in Johnstone. There will be a variety of entertainment and activities, together with health and wellbeing routines. If you need help getting to the Scout Hall, we can offer assistance with this. If you are interested in coming along, phone 07703 183 653 or contact us via our website.

STILL HERE SOCIAL GROUP

ACTIVITIES

We have a range of activities that have proved popular with our group. These include day trips, theatre outings and tea dances. We also have our own projector, thanks to funding from Health and Social Care Partnership, to allow us to hold our own film events. We even have headphones for those who are struggling with their hearing to help enhance the fun of the films. We visited the Concert Hall Glasgow for the Celtic Connections festival, travelled on the Boness and Kinnell Railway Steam Train, taken a boat trip and went to the ballet.

We received funding from:
